Re: FILLED: The Kindness of Strangers (19/?)
It is definitely worse with Adam. Adam just watched, for an hour and 1/2, what Tommy just went through; the pain, the crying, the screaming, asking for it all to stop, and yet still raped him. He used the information he heard from Cade and the others to gain Tommy's trust. Plus, Tommy knows Adam, not well mind you, but still. Somehow it makes it worse for me.

While what Cade and his friends did is utterly disgusting, that is Tommy in an abusive relationship. Yes, Tommy should walk away, but he knows what to expect from Cade and is unfortunately allowing it.

This is so amazingingly well written, and while I don't like fic where I don't like Adam, I am completely drawn in to your storytelling...

Re: FILLED: The Kindness of Strangers (19/?)
Tommy-kitten!

Also, I don't think it was too much, darling. I mean, i admit for awhile I was just pretending Adam wasn't watching, but even when you made that impossible, I kept on, which means it wasn't TOO awful, I promise.

And TBH, I wouldn't have liked a rescue!fic, because I would have known that Tommy was always gonna go back to Cade. He's not ready to be rescued, even if it would make the readers feel better. He's too deep in the cycle, and besides, Cade will treat him like a prince tomorrow, right?

Re: FILLED: The Kindness of Strangers (19/?)
OP: No babe, it's OK. The bast way to exorcise these demons is to write them down and then forget about them. Get yourself a martini and don;t worry too much about it. We'll hate them all and be done with it.

Also, after, you should probably write a proposal fic. Adam being neurotic over the perfect way to pop the question should fix you right over

prompt
Tommy and jealousy/confusion. Goes back to LA unplanned because of something he saw and can't hang with it. Needs to go back to something familiar (a woman) to try and get a clear head. You choose the ending but would like NC17 and Adam/Tommy to be the main pair.

Re: FILLED: The Kindness of Strangers (20/?)
Adam cringed a little as he walked down the stairs, the blaring music especially obnoxious now, after two hours of comparative silence. The scene downstairs was pretty much the same, perky sorority girls gossiping, mindless jocks guffawing, all the other fillers in the social pecking order milling about, laughing, shouting, dancing, riding out yet another Friday night. Funny. For some reason, he didn’t bother to examine, Adam had imagined it would be different somehow. Oh well.

He quickly blended into the teeming crowd after reaching the bottom of the stairs, moving about aimlessly for a few seconds before finally turning towards the kitchen for a drink. He was about halfway to the mark when he felt a hand curl around his arm from behind. Adam started with surprise and turned around.

“Hey, where have you been?” Monte asked, face tense with a mix of concern and exasperation. “I’ve been searching for you for like an hour and a half!”

Adam let Monte pull him into a relatively quiet and uninhabited corner near the open sliding doors leading out to the backyard.

“I didn’t know how much longer you were gonna be,” he replied. “There were a couple of guys, we got to talking, and I followed them three houses over to light up a bit. Lost track of time, I guess.”

“Oh.”

“Sorry, man.” Adam flashed Monte another of his smiles, the lazy one this time, where he squinted a little, letting his eyes go soft as he curled his lips. As usual, it worked.

“It’s alright. I guess I kept you waiting too. But hey, so I talked to the guy and it looks like we’re good to go for the amps. We can have the new set now, and they’ll….”

Monte began firing away, going over his conversation in minute detail for several minutes while Adam nodded along and interjected with a question or comment every now and then. Occasionally, he would look away, across the room, or over Monte’s shoulder. That’s how he saw that Cade was on the other side of the room, near the front doors, holding court with a group of six guys, some of whom Adam recognized from the scene upstairs.

His gaze kept returning to them as Monte talked, until, finally, a familiar flash of blond hair in his peripheral vision provided a more compelling distraction. Tommy was halfway down the stairs when Adam caught sight of him fully, moving shakily, gait unsteady, pale hands wrapped tightly around the railing as he climbed down. When he reached the bottom of the stairs he began to weave through the crowd, each step stiff and laborious, balance precarious, like he might keel over at any given moment.

Re: FILLED: The Kindness of Strangers (21/21)
Adam redirected his attention to Monte just in time to catch the tail end of his account of his conversation with the guy getting them the amps.

“That’s pretty amazing. We got lucky,” Adam said automatically. Then he paused for a moment, gaze flickering over to the other side of the room where Cade had just tossed his head back in laughter and clapped one of his “boys” on the shoulder.

“Tell me something, Monte. Do you know that guy? That one in the corner by the front door, the one with the entourage, laughing? I think his name is Cade or something.”

Monte looked over, mouth immediately curving downward in a look of utter disdain when he saw who Adam was gesturing toward.

“Yeah, I know him. Cade Marlowe. As in Marlowe Superstores. Typical asshole rich kid; thinks he owns the whole world and everyone in it. He’s in our class. Gonna graduate in May too.”

Adam kept looking across the room, tracking Tommy’s movement until he reached the group. He watched Cade reach out to wrap an arm around Tommy’s waist, tucking him in close to his side before pressing a kiss to his left temple. If one ignored the puffy redness of Tommy’s eyes, his bruised and swollen lips and the livid marks on his neck and bare arms, they would look like nothing out of the ordinary, two boyfriends, one perhaps a bit shy, with his shadowed brown eyes directed at the floor, seemingly unable to meet the gaze of the men around him.

“You see the blond kid that just walked up to them?” Monte asked.

“Yeah. What about him?”

“He tried out for the band back in January when Cam bailed on us. You remember him?”

Adam made a non-committal sound and Monte pulled a face.

“Oh yeah, I forgot. You never remember anyone, do you? Anyway, the guy, Tommy, he’s Cade’s boyfriend.”

“Oh.”

“Whatever it is that they have going, it’s some twisted shit, that’s for sure. The guy’s like Cade’s personal toy. Some of the things I’ve heard, some of the rumors flying around….” Monte shuddered a little as his voice trailed off.

“Things like what?” Adam asked.

Monte shook his head. “There’s some shit in this world that doesn’t bear repeating. Besides, you wouldn’t believe if I told you anyway.” Monte glanced over at the corner by the front door once again, the expression of disdain on his face fading as he stared at Tommy. By the time he turned back, all that was left was pity.

“If it’s bad between them, why does he stay, do you think?”

Monte ran a hand through his hair. “I don’t know. The kid’s from Middle of Nowhere, Arizona. This is LA, we all show up with stars in our eyes. The problem is some people show up with entire fucking galaxies, and they never see clear past them, I guess.”

“Huh.”

Monte tilted his head. “Why do you ask?”

Adam shrugged his shoulders. “No reason really. Cade bumped into me earlier while you were gone. I was just wondering who he is, that’s all.”

Adam glanced over at Cade and Tommy briefly. Then he turned his back completely and threw an arm around Monte’s shoulder, features relaxing back into that lazy smile that has never once failed him.

“Come on,” he said, pulling Monte along already. “Let’s go grab a beer.”

THE END
